Haudenosaunee Men win Bronze in 14-5 win over England at 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championship

The Haudenosaunee Nationals defeated England 14-5 to win the Bronze Medal at the 2024 World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship at the Adirondack Bank Center. The Haudenosaunee was led by Lyle Thompson with a hat trick and an assist. Tehoka Nanticoke, Randy Staats, and Travis Longboat each added two goals and three assists. Larson Sundown and Thomas Hoggarth added two goals apiece. Warren Hill took the start in net and finished with 35 saves to help stave off a somewhat sluggish start by the offense in the first half.

Haudenosaunee Women Win Bronze Medal in Historic 21-4 Victory Over Australia at 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships

The Haudenosaunee Nationals defeated Australia 21-4 in the bronze medal game at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship. Eleven different players scored for Haudenosaunee, led by Ferrah Blackbird with 3 goals and 3 assists, Timmia Bomberry with 3 goals and 2 assists, Ava Gabriel with 3 goals, and Fawn Porter with 3 goals and 5 assists. Trysten Burns added a goal and 5 assists, Tallis Tarbell 2 goals and an assist, and Carey-Leigh Vyse 2 goals and 3 assists for the Nationals. The hard-nosed defense only gave up four goals on the day and were backstopped by goalie Chelsea Doolittle with 27 saves. The win secured the first ever bronze medal for the Haudenosaunee women’s box lacrosse program.

Haudenosaunee Men drop heartbreaker 12-11 to USA in semifinals of 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championship

The Haudenosaunee Nationals dropped a heartbreaker 12-11 to USA in the semifinals of the 2024 World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship at the Adirondack Bank Center. The game was tight throughout as neither team led by more than two goals. Ultimately, it was a 3-0 run to end the game for USA that was the difference in the game. The Haudenosaunee offense had goals from eight different players, led by Eli McLaughlin with two goals and two assists, Lyle Thompson with two goals and an assist, Noonzy Thompson with two goals, and Randy Staats with a goal and three assists. Doug Jamieson got the start in net and finished with 50 saves.

Haudenosaunee wins defensive battle 7-2 over Germany in quarterfinals of 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship; Burns and Tulpin each with 2 goals

The Haudenosaunee Nationals defeated Germany 7-2 in a defensive grind of the quarterfinals played at the Utica University Nexus Center. Goalie Chelsea Gibson backstopped another stingy defensive performance with 26 saves through three quarters. Chelsea Doolittle finished with 12 saves to close out the fourth quarter. The Haudenosaunee offense was led by Trysten Burns with two goals and an assist and Mekwan Tulpin with two goals. The Nationals also got one goal each from Fawn Porter, Mackenzie Shigwadja, and Carey-Leigh Vyse along with an assist each from Ferrah Blackbird, Timmia Bomberry, Joni Squire-Hill, and Tallis Tarbell.

Hoggarth, Marquis, McLaughlin, and Staats lead Haudenosaunee offense in 24-6 win over Israel in quarterfinals of 2024 World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship; Will face USA in Semis

The Haudenosaunee Nationals defeated Israel 24-6 in the quarterfinals of the 2024 World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship at the Adirondack Bank Center. The Haudenosaunee offense got goals from 10 different players and points from 16 players total in route to the semifinal round. Thomas Hoggarth scored six goals and added two assists and Koleton Marquis, in his first official game ever with the Haudenosaunee Box program, scored six goals and added two assists to help lead the way. Eli McLaughlin and Randy Staats stayed in rhythm with two goals and 10 assists and three goals and four assists, respectively. Warren Hill backstopped the defense with 33 saves in net.

The Haudenosaunee Nationals bounced back with a huge 18-2 win over England in the final game of pool play at the 2024 World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship. The Nationals were led by Eli McLaughlin’s four goals and four assists, Thomas Hoggarth’s three goals and an assist, Cody Jamieson’s two goals and three assists, and Lyle Thompson’s two goals and three assist. Tehoka Nanticoke also added two goals and Randy Staats one goal and three assists. Doug Jamieson and Warren Hill split in the net for Haudenosaunee and finshed with a combined 23 saves.

The Haudenosaunee Nationals defeated Hong Kong 17-3 in pool play at the Utica University Nexus Center. The Nationals offense got goals from eight different players, led by Ferrah Blackbird with five goals and three assists. Ava Gabriel added three goals and two assists. Trysten Burns, Kendall Tabobandung, and Carey-Leigh Vyse each added two goals. The Haudenosaunee defense was smothering once again as they did not allow a goal in the second half. Chelsea Doolittle got the start in net and finished with 19 saves for her first win of the tournament.

Ava Gabriel’s five goals propels Haudenosaunee Women to their first ever victory at the Box Lacrosse World Championship

The Haudenosaunee Nationals Women’s Box Lacrosse team secured their first win in program history as they defeated England 15-6 in pool play at the Utica University Nexus Center. The Haudenosaunee offense got goals from nine different players led by Ava Gabriel with five goals. Timmia Bomberry added two goals and an assist, Trysten Burns two goals, and Ferrah Blackbird a goal and three assists. The defense was physical once again and backstopped by goalie Chelsea Gibson with 28 saves. The game was physical from start to finish and featured 52 penalty minutes between the two nations.

The Haudenosaunee Nationals opened the first ever 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship with a hard fought 11-4 loss to USA in pool play at the Adirondack Bake Center. The Haudenosaunee offense was led by Trysten Burns with 2 goals and Fawn Porter and Chelsie John each added a goal. Goalie Chelsea Doolittle was unconscious between the pipes early as she finished with 28 saves in the first half alone and 54 saves overall.

Haudenosaunee Nationals drop opening game 16-9 to Team USA at 2024 World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship

The Haudenosaunee Nationals suffered a 16-9 defeat to Team USA in their opening game of pool play at the 2024 World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship at the Adirondack Bank Center. Randy Staats paced the offense with four goals and two assists and Zed Williams added two goals and an assist. Warren Hill got the start in net and finished with 29 saves. The story of the game was penalties as Haudenosaunee spent 20 minutes in the box to USA’s six minutes. That discrepancy put pressure on the Haudenosaunee defense all night and forced the offense to play from behind for major parts of the game. USA used three separate runs of 5-0, 4-0, and 4-0 to keep Haudenosaunee chasing the game all night.

The Haudenosaunee Nationals Men’s team defeated Ireland 21-7 in an international friendly played in front of a crowded Onondaga Nation Arena. The game was played in preparation for the upcoming 2024 World Lacrosse Box World Championships scheduled for September 20-29 in Utica, NY. The friendly added to the storied history of the two nations when it comes to international lacrosse as Ireland gave up their spot at the 2022 World Games in favor of Haudenosaunee.
